John Roemer - Head Coach - 18u Female
John has been playing water polo for 45 years. He started with the Concord water polo club coached by Pete Cutino and Steve Heaston in 1971. After graduating from Berkeley High School John played in Mendoza Argentina for a year before entering DVC. From DVC to Cal John reunited with Coach Cutino. Since then John has continued playing and coaching. John has won National Open Championships, National Masters Championships with Tri-Valley masters and a FINA World Championship with Santa Barbara Masters. John coached the DVC Men’s and Women’s teams for 8 years. His 8-year conference record was 39-1 for the Men’s team. And his 2-year record was 10-0 for the women’s team. He was awarded Coach of the year numerous times. More importantly, the Men’s water polo team won the CCCAA scholar team of the year. This is the only team in DVC’s history in any sport to do so. In his eight years at DVC 98% of his players went on to a four-year school. More recently John has coached Diablo 14’s to a Champions (TYR) cup Championship. And the Santa Barbara 14’s to a Junior Olympic Championship.
